Write & Read

I enjoy reading and writing. I like the actual act of writing with a pencil or pen. It feels good to me. Typing is good too but what’s typed can be deleted so easily and sometimes I delete words that are good or awesome because I over think them. Writing it down means that they’re there if I need to check them out again later for a different way to write something or remember idea that was great but at the time I was just spewing everything so fast I didn’t realize how nice the idea or word sequence was. Plus it feels good to my hands and body to feel the fluid movement of cursive writing or any writing really. Just try putting a pencil to paper and move it without taking it off the page. That’s weird drawing but it feels good. Cursive writing is directed drawing with words that put ideas directly into a readers head which gives them a role in being the artist. I know you might go try that now because everyone wants a new experience that’s safe ( low to absolutely no risk) and feels good right? Right? I’m right.

Reading is essential because I get to hear (in my head because I don’t usually read out loud) good grammar. That should be telling of the type of books I read. Modern books are also in my reading library but they are not as effective at inspiring me because the vocabulary is usually limited and making a lot of street slang statements. When I read something fantastic that makes me want to write, draw. paint, listen to the same music I’ve always listened to in a new way or notice a different way of life it usually isn’t filled with curse words and name drops of the famous or semi famous people of today. I do enjoy those books, but I usually gravitate toward the things that make me look in a dictionary for word history or look up special techniques or special positions in life, for instance ‘what is an aria?’, It’s a special type of solo in opera singing. Some music people will know exactly what that is but I didn’t until a few weeks ago and I play music. I guess reading for pleasure and reading for knowledge are best when they are combined for me. AAAAnd reading gives me motivation to write. No matter how good or bad the writing is because I already like it. A lot. Me reading bad writing makes me say to myself, “I bet I could write that better or do a better job than that” and good writing makes me think, “OH MAN I WANT TO BE AS GOOD AS THAT!” I admit that my grammar isn’t always the greatest but I get it right when it counts.

So, I’m currently reading ‘Last Kids On Earth’ series because my son is reading it, ‘Golden Compass’ Series because they should have made sequel movies, I mean really, no movie is like the book so they could have inserted a Mother Teresa type character(s) to give the church a better appearance. I’m finishing up ‘Official Rules of Chess’ (a real page turner) to become a TD, TD II etc. (Tournament Director), a few awesome books about my business, a family business book, a few LOA books on my bedside table by Florence Scovel Schin, David J. Schwartz, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, and Esther and Jerry Hicks. I’m always looking up career things and reading about career enhancing things. I’m reading and editing one I wrote right now almost out for publication YES!!!

Some good books I like and are easy reads that I’d read again: Ragtime, The Go Getter, The Sea Wolf, Brave New World, and I can’t think of anymore at this time but I’m sure more will surface. Hopefully some new ones that have been written in this century LOL. Posts about all of these in the near future…

this drawing should have a reader in the background under the tree, I might draw that later or paint it
